Mrs. Li, a housewife, lives at home with her 8-year-old son and retired parents, who are both over 65. They always used to drink boiled water using water from the tap.

"Recently, I read some research reports in the newspaper. They said that because tap water can sometimes contain rust and taste unpleasant, many people in Hong Kong use a filter on their water tap. Some even give up tap water and use bottled water, like me. I used to rely on a household filter, but learned that they are ineffective in removing the small particles found in tap water and don't sterilise the water either. I was really shocked to discover that tap water can become contaminated with all sorts of impurities from old pipes and dirty water tanks."

"My son always complained about the rusty taste of our water and preferred to drink juice. My parents also complained that food I prepared tasted unpleasant."

Then a friend recommended a distilled water dispenser from Watsons Water. "We noticed the difference straight away. Everything tastes so much better now and we don't get that horrible fluoride smell or rusty taste any more. Now my son is happy to drink water, while my homemade soups taste great and it doesn't taint the taste of other food ingredients."

"It's so handy being able to get both hot and chilled water from my household dispenser. I don't need to boil drinking water now. I also use distilled water to make other food and beverages which is convenient and hygienic." She's also noticed benefits in many other areas: "My iron used to get clogged really easily because of the impurities and mineral salts from the tap water. But now I use distilled water, it's hassle-free to iron our clothes. It's also great for watering the plants! My puppy drinks distilled water too".

Thanks to the report, Mrs Li is now much more aware of the important role that water plays in health. "We try to drink the recommended 8 cups of water a day because we lose water everyday just through activities like urination, breathing and sweating. It's important that we replace the lost water to prevent constipation caused by high urine concentration."

"And if my son is playing outside in the heat of the day, I insist he has a water break every 15-20 minutes, to prevent dehydration. I also make sure my parents drink more water because the older you get, the less you can adjust your body temperature and the easier it is to become dehydrated. Every time my son or parents go out, I prepare a bottle of distilled water for them, so that they can get refreshment anytime, anywhere."

"My family's health is really important. I don't want to put them at risk of dehydration."
